Lo que parecía imposible se ha convertido en realidad. El Hobbit, un libro de 324 páginas, será llevado al cine por Peter Jackson en ¡tres películas! Las dos previstas, y ya rodadas (dato importante), se convertirán en tres. Así lo ha confirmado Peter Jackson en su página de Facebook.

It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie - and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.'

We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.

So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of “The Hobbit” films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three.

It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, "a tale that grew in the telling."

En negrita he marcado las dos claves de la noticia. Empezando por el final, Peter Jackson dice: "Así, sin más preámbulos y en nombre de New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, y todo el reparto y el equipo de las películas de "El Hobbit", me gustaría anunciar que las dos películas se han convertido en tres.

¿De dónde va a sacar el material Peter Jackson? Dice que de los Apéndices de El Señor de los Anillos, y aquí radica gran parte de mi sorpresa porque yo creía que ya lo habían usado para convertir una historia de 324 páginas (no tengo el libro a mano pero tiro de Internet para dar este dato) en dos películas. Ahora, con los Apéndices van a hacer tres, y gran parte de esos Apéndices son documentos sobre cómo escribir o pronunciar en las distintas lenguas, de los que poco van a poder sacar.



De El Señor de los Anillos, un libro de unas 1.100 páginas, salieron tres películas. ¿Da El Hobbit para tres films? ¿Están exprimiendo a lo bruto a la gallina de los huevos de oro? A mí me encantaron las tres películas de El Señor de los Anillos, pero no veo claras tres de El Hobbit. ¿No se va a ver a Smaug hasta la tercera? ¿Dónde van a cortar en los films? ¿La avaricia rompe el saco, mi tesssoro?

Ian Mckellen también lo ha confirmado en su cuenta de Twitter. Posible estreno de esa tercera película en el verano de 2014 (la primera se estrenará en las navidades de 2012 y la segunda un año más tarde).
